For anyone new to The Young Conservative, my name is Max, and I’m in the latter years of high school. I’m an avid consumer of Sky News and multiple conservative media sources. Quite frequently, I hear that the education system is incredibly woke—that it needs a complete overhaul.
Over my years at school, I’ve observed that the majority of teachers suffer from TDS—Trump Derangement Syndrome. It only takes a sly dig at Trump, calling him an “idiot” or “clown,” to confirm their political views.
But it’s more than just teachers. The entire curriculum is designed to push a certain worldview—one that breeds guilt, discourages patriotism, and convinces students that Australia is inherently racist.
A Curriculum That Teaches Shame, Not Pride
Sky News constantly highlights how Australia’s woke curriculum pushes a guilt-driven ideology onto young people. It’s a system that encourages students to believe that their country is built on oppression, that they live on stolen land, and that they should feel ashamed of their national identity.
This kind of messaging has serious consequences. It explains why Australia’s military recruitment numbers have plummeted. After all, why would a young person sign up to defend a country they’ve been taught to despise?
In my 11th year of schooling, the effects of this indoctrination have never been clearer.

The Stolen Generations Narrative: One-Sided History
In English class, we’ve been focusing on the oppression of Indigenous Australians, with a heavy emphasis on the Stolen Generations. The core piece of content? The Rabbit-Proof Fence—a film that portrays Aboriginal children being forcefully taken from their families by cruel, white British men, only to be handed over to Christian nuns who strip them of their culture.
If you were to watch the movie—or sit through an entire term of coursework focused on this topic—you’d be led to believe that this one-sided portrayal is the full truth. As a staunch conservative, even I have to admit: when history is presented like this, students are naturally going to believe that Australia is an irredeemably racist country with a dark and shameful past.
But here’s the issue—it’s not the full truth.
The Truth They Won’t Teach You
Recently, I discovered the brilliant work of John Anderson, former National Party Leader and Deputy Prime Minister under John Howard. Anderson recently hosted Dr. Stephen Chavura on his podcast—a must-watch for all Young Conservative subscribers and members.
In the interview, Dr. Chavura presents the other side of the story—the one that’s left out of the school curriculum:
Aboriginal children were not systematically removed to destroy their culture.
Strict laws were in place to protect children from abuse, neglect, and even prostitution.
Infanticide against half-caste children was common, and many Aboriginal parents voluntarily handed their children over in hopes of giving them a better future—one with education, clean water, and opportunities they otherwise wouldn’t have had.
The 1997 Bringing Them Home Report has faced intense academic scrutiny, with many historians arguing it lacked balance by failing to include positive stories of those who were helped by the system.

Why Is The Full Truth Hidden?
School is meant to teach students how to think critically—how to distinguish between primary and secondary sources, fact and fiction.
So why is it that the education system only presents one side of the story? Why is it that certain perspectives—ones that provide historical context or counter the mainstream narrative—are conveniently ignored?
The answer is simple: they don’t want students to feel pride in their country.
When young people are only taught a warped, one-sided history, they grow up believing that Australia is not worth fighting for—that patriotism is nationalism, that pride is racism, and that supporting conservative ideas makes you a bad person.
The Young Conservative: Fighting Back
My goal with The Young Conservative is simple: to provide a common-sense, unfiltered voice that cuts through the noise.
I want to reach young Australians who may have only ever been exposed to one side of history—those who deserve to hear the full truth.
It’s time to push back against the woke agenda in education and fight for a future where young Australians feel pride in their country, not shame.
